A fluorescent lamp is a low pressure mercury, electric discharge lamp that consists of a glass tube filled with a mixture of argon gas and mercury vapor at low pressure. It uses a controlling electronic ballast to operate which alters the electric current flowing through the fluorescent tube to activate the gas inside to cause it to glow.

A fluorescent lamp converts electrical power into useful light more efficiently than incandescent lamps: they use only one-quarter to one-third of the energy for the same luminous efficacy as that as the incandescent lamps, and last 10 to 15 times longer, or 10,000 hours or more.

Our lamps meet the ANSI (American National Standard Institute) regulations where applicable.
